THE CALYPTO SYSTEM

  • CALYPTO is a performance eyewear and techwear brand built around a permanent archive system. Every product we release carries a visible code — its tier, category, model number, and release year.

Nothing is seasonal. Nothing gets discounted and cleared out. The archive only grows.

We're based in Oslo, and we ship across Norway.

  • Every CALYPTO product has a four-part code stamped directly on it. Here's how to read it:

    T0 — A — 002 — 25

    • T0 = Tier. Defines the environmental function and rarity level (T0–T4).
    • A = Category. The part of the body the product operates on (A = Accessories/Eyewear, T = Tops/Apparel).
    • 002 = Model number. Its unique, permanent place in the archive sequence.
    • 25 = Release year. The year it was produced.

Every code is unique and never repeated. When a model sells out, it's archived. When we produce the same model the following year, it gets a new year in the code — T0-A-002-25 becomes T0-A-002-26. Same model, new archive entry, new year.

→ Full breakdown on the Decode CALYPTO page.

  • The tier defines how a product exists in the archive — its availability and production volume.

    • T0 — Core. Permanently available within the year. Produced to meet demand.
    • T1 — Core. Planned volume per year. May restock once within the same year.
    • T2 — Limited run. Fixed quantity. No restock. Archived when sold out.
    • T3 — Limited run. Low fixed quantity. No restock. Archived when sold out.
    • T4 — Limited edition. Numbered. Can come from any category. Never restocked, never re-released. Carrier members get first access.
    • T5 — Archive One. Single pieces. Artist collaborations, one-offs, prototypes. One code = one object in the world.

The tier is not a quality ranking. T0 is not "lower" than T5 — it's a different role in the archive. T0 is what's always here. T5 is what may never exist again.

  • Most brands release products seasonally — then discount, replace, and forget them a few months later.

We don't work that way. Every CALYPTO product enters a permanent archive. When a model sells out, it's archived — not restocked under the same code, not re-released. This is intentional. What you own has a permanent, traceable identity. You're not buying this season's colourway. You're carrying a permanent archive entry.

PRODUCTS & MATERIALS

  • All CALYPTO T0 eyewear is built from the following:

    • Frame: Bio-based TR90 — a plant-derived thermoplastic that performs identically to conventional TR90 but with a lower environmental footprint. Lightweight, flexible, and impact-resistant.
    • Lens: Polycarbonate (PC) with silver mirror coating. CE-certified, UV400 protection.
    • Arms: Matte semi-transparent rubber legs, colour-matched per model.
    • Logo & Code: Laser-engraved directly onto the lens and frame.
    • Packaging: CALYPTO-branded box, microfibre lens cloth, drawstring pouch, and product pamphlet.
  • Conventional TR90 is petroleum-derived. Bio-based TR90 uses plant-derived polylactide (PLA) as its raw material — it's biodegradable, reduces CO₂ emissions during production, and delivers identical structural performance: flexibility, impact resistance, and low weight.

Material decisions are part of the archive. What goes into the product should be worth carrying.

  • All CALYPTO T0 eyewear uses polycarbonate lenses with a silver mirror coating. Specifications per model:

    • T0-A-001-25 — Matte transparent green frame · Grey lens · Silver mirror coating · VLT 11% · Category S2
    • T0-A-002-25 — Matte transparent grey frame · Grey lens · Silver mirror coating · VLT 11% · Category S3
    • T0-A-003-25 — Matte transparent brown frame · Pink lens · Silver coating · VLT 33% · Category S2
    • T0-A-004-25 — Matte transparent purple frame · Grey lens · Full REVO purple coating · VLT 25% · Category S2
    • T0-A-005-25 — Matte transparent green frame · Full frame · Grey lens · Silver mirror coating · VLT 11% · Category S2
    • T0-A-006-25 — Matte transparent grey frame · Full frame · Grey lens · Silver mirror coating · VLT 11% · Category S2
    • T0-A-007-25 — Matte transparent brown frame · Full frame · Pink lens · Silver coating · VLT 33% · Category S2

CE certification applies to all models.

  • UV400 means the lens blocks all ultraviolet light with wavelengths up to 400 nanometres — covering 100% of UVA and UVB radiation. This is the highest UV protection standard available in eyewear.

All CALYPTO lenses meet this standard.

  • VLT (Visible Light Transmission) is the percentage of visible light that passes through the lens. Lower VLT = darker lens = better suited for brighter conditions.

    • Category S2 (VLT 18–43%) — Variable urban light, moderate sun. Most CALYPTO models.
    • Category S3 (VLT 8–18%) — Bright sun, high glare. Models 002 and 006.

If you spend most time in strong daylight or high-glare conditions, go for a Category S3 model. For general urban use across changing light conditions, Category S2 works well.

  • Yes. The bio-based TR90 frame is light enough to forget you're wearing it, and the rubber arm tips grip without slipping during movement. The wraparound geometry on the rimless models (T0-A-001 through T0-A-004) reduces wind interference from the sides.

These are built for urban performance — running, cycling, commuting, and everyday outdoor use. They are not dedicated alpine or trail-specific optics.

  • Models T0-A-001 through T0-A-004 use a rimless wraparound silhouette — the lens has no surrounding frame. Sits closer to the face, minimal profile.

Models T0-A-005 through T0-A-007 use a full frame silhouette — the lens is enclosed in a complete frame. Slightly wider fit, more structured look.

Both silhouettes use the same bio-based TR90 and UV400 polycarbonate lens technology.

  • All CALYPTO T0 eyewear is one size. The TR90 frame is designed to fit most face shapes.

  • We work with a specialist performance eyewear manufacturer with over 15 years of experience in the industry. Their facility holds ISO quality certification, CE certification across all lens categories, and BSCI factory audit compliance — an internationally recognised social accountability standard.

We don't manufacture in-house. We select partners who hold verified production standards and verify specifications on every order.

  • Clean lenses with the microfibre cloth included in the box. Avoid paper towels, clothing fabric, or dry wiping — these leave micro-scratches on polycarbonate lenses over time.

Rinse with fresh water after heavy sweating or exposure to saltwater. Store in the drawstring pouch when not in use.

Do not leave eyewear in a closed car on a warm day. Sustained heat above approximately 60°C can warp a TR90 frame.

THE ARCHIVE & COMMUNITY

  • The archive is the complete record of every product CALYPTO has ever released. Every model has a unique code. Once a product sells out, it's archived permanently — it won't be restocked under the same code or re-released.

The exception is the annual year rollover: T0 and T1 models that continue into the following year receive a new year in the code. T0-A-002-25 becomes T0-A-002-26. Same product, new archive entry, new year.

  • T0 and T1 models may return as a new year code. T2, T3, T4, and T5 products do not return — when they're gone, they're archived.

If a model you want is sold out, join the archive community to be notified of new entries and upcoming drops.

  • The community is the group of people who carry the code. Artists, athletes, and builders who move differently.

Members get early access to drops, archive stories, product histories, and invitations to events. Join at the Community page.

  • T4 is limited edition — numbered, final, never restocked. T4 products can come from any category: eyewear, apparel, accessories. Community members get access before public announcement.

T5 is Archive One — single pieces. Artist collaborations, one-offs, and prototypes. One code, one object. These are the rarest things CALYPTO will ever make.

  • We work with people who genuinely move in the spaces CALYPTO is built for — athletes, creatives, and community builders. If you think there's a natural fit, reach out at support@calyptotech.com with a short introduction and your social or portfolio links. We read everything.

We don't run a formal application programme. We build relationships with people we find interesting.
